I’ve seen it. I’m sure you have. Comments that advise a Degree in Fine Art, Games Design, Fashion, Media Production or Animation is not a real Degree and that these Mickey Mouse courses are a waste of time.
Often followed with cries that this could all be learnt on Google. Coupled with a mockery of students that wish to undertake such courses, as taking the easy route and not wanting to get a “job”.
Yet embedded at the core of all of these types of programmes, at the centre of Art Schools is creative investigation, problem solving, design thinking, innovative solutions, products and growing resilience.
So when I look around the world today and even more so right now I see the requirement for these types of thinkers and makers in all sectors of the economy.
