Why didn’t Apple announce a top up debit card like Monzo. A credit card announcement that took up most of the key note then followed by the “worthy” subscription services was a little odd.
Michael Descy Isn’t Apple Pay Cash pretty similar? I know it works more like a gift card than a bank account, but I think you can put money in it and then spend it wherever Apple Pay is accepted. (Or are you wondering about a physical card that is a debit card rather than a credit card?)

It costs them money to keep it (their money), kinda like Smaug. They need to utilise it - which they’ve chosen to do by: giving it to wealthy americans who can then give it back to them
